Delete your account.

1. How to request account deletion

In the app

1. Open the Trek Train app and sign in.
2. Go to Profile → Account Management.
3. Under "Delete Account", confirm your identity by entering your email or phone number.
4. Type DELETE to confirm, then tap Delete Account.
5. Confirm the request in the dialog that appears.

Prefer not to delete permanently? Choose Deactivate Account on the same screen instead. It is reversible — simply signing in again reactivates your account.

By email (if you can't access the app)

• Send an email to info@trektrain.com with the subject line "Trek Train Account Deletion Request".
• Include your full name, the email address or mobile number associated with your account, and a statement confirming you want your account deleted.
• For your security, we may need to verify you are the account holder before processing the request.

2. What happens after you request deletion

• Your account enters a 30-day grace period, after which it is permanently deleted.
• You will not be able to create a new account with the same email or phone number during this 30-day period.
• Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone once the grace period ends.

3. What is deleted, what is kept, and for how long

After the 30-day grace period:

• Your profile, contact details, and other personal information are permanently deleted or anonymized.
• Booking records, deleted-profile shells, and audit logs are retained in anonymized/restricted form for up to 5 years, as required by South African law (POPIA and the Tax Administration Act).
• Payment transaction records are retained for up to 7 years, as required by the Companies Act and accounting record-keeping obligations.

Data retained under these legal holds is kept solely to meet our legal and regulatory obligations. It is not used for marketing, analytics, or any other purpose, and is automatically purged once the applicable retention period expires.
